Spring Break Snow?!

Ah, spring in Ohio. Do we get sunny days? Some. Do we get blizzards and sleet? More often than not.

Anyway, today has been satisfying and somewhat productive. I cleaned the house and got my workout in early, so there's a plus. My mom and I also went down to Marie's Candy and picked up four milk chocolate peanut butter eggs for my sisters and their husbands for Easter. We sent them to Memphis already!

Today's Workout:
Detail- Injured bursa
Main-45 minutes elliptical
Strength-Shoulder press with 12 lbs, curls with 12 lbs, a set of lunges, core workout consisting of 3 x 50 Swiss ball crunches, 3 x 2 min planks, and 3 x 100 bicycle crunches.
Flexibility-25 minutes of Namaste Yoga, Earth Rain sequence.

I love yoga! It's the most refreshing ritual I know and always improves my mood. Probably because it stimulates blood flow to my brain. ;)

I'm making dinner tonight. Chicken Veggie Penne. Chicken breast seared in olive oil and garlic, bag of frozen Broccoli Stirfry veggies, tossed together with lemon juice, chili powder, garlic, more olive oil, and served over whole wheat Ronzoni penne pasta. Delicious and REALLY easy.

The weather might suck, but at least my mood doesn't. Hah. Make sure you tune into the NCAA B-ball championships tonight. Ninety seconds of Green Day's new single, "Know Your Enemy", will be featured in the opening teaser at 9 PM EST!

Keeping up...

Hey there. I'm home from school again today, so I figured I may as well keep my blog updated.

I get to go back to the YMCA today! It's so warm outside, though, I'd rather run outdoors than be on those dumb ellipticals...but I have to do what my dad thinks is right. He's my coach after all. Meh. That still doesn't change the fact that it's 53 degrees and sunny!

I'm going to keep things short and sweet today--nothing's changed around the house. My sore throat is somewhat better. I can talk! I've been keeping up with my homework for the most part, but this dumb continent-tracing and assembling worksheet is complete bull. Anyway, my eating has been really good the past two days. I have somehow managed to eat 3,000+ calories a day without exercising, although I am not nearly as hungry as I usually am when working out. I miss that...and I hope that eventually I'll be able to regulate my own workouts without losing weight. It's a blessing and a curse to have a high metabolism, I guess. More of a curse in my case.

Sick sucks.

Ugh... I'm still fighting this terrible bug. My throat hurts to the extreme and I can barely talk. But, tomorrow I'm going to work out again! It's been ten days since I last exercised and I am sooo ready to come back. I've gained some weight and I think I'm finally ready to be coached.

My dad has some of his own ideas about how I should be coached, so I've decided to give him the reins and just see how I run. I want to be successful this track season, but I know I've had a lot of setbacks that others have not and I'm only a sophomore. However, I still want to kick some butt and impress people. My dad (for some reason) thinks I'm incapable of running sub 5:40 for the mile, but I ran that as a split during cross country. I guess he's forgotten. Heh.

Anyway, the point of this post is to express my gratefulness for being able to exercise again. I can't wait to sweat and feel like I'm worth something again. There's nothing that I want more than to be a speedy, strong, and injury-free runner for my team this spring.
